Topeka, Kan. – Minnesota Crookston men's golf had an impressive 36 holes on Monday afternoon at the Washburn Invitational, sitting in sixth place out of 15 teams.
Minnesota Crookston shot 290 during the first round and was in fourth after the first 18. Minnesota Crookston shot 295 in the last round, falling two spots to end the day in sixth.
Missouri Western leads the field, two strokes ahead of perennial power Central Oklahoma. Host school Washburn is in third place. Newman improved upon their round one score by 12 strokes to move to fourth, while Concordia-St. Paul is in fifth, ahead of the Golden Eagles by just two strokes.
The Golden Eagles lead both Minnesota State and Winona State, both of which are in a tie for seventh.
Andrew Wilhelm (So., Fargo, N.D.) was outstanding on the day, shooting a second round 69 to end the day in a tie for 11
th.
Lukas Justesen (Sr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) is in 28
th, helped by a score of 72 in the first round.
Holdyn Evjen (Fr., Hermantown, Minn.) and
Marc Bofarull Balleste (So., Barcelona, Spain) each shot 150 on the day.
Connor Czirjak (So., Calgary, Alberta) was outstanding in the first round, shooting a 71, one of the best scores of his career as a Golden Eagle.
Minnesota Crookston will look to close out the Washburn Invitational strong tomorrow. The Golden Eagles will tee off at 8:30 A.M.
