Grabowski Leads U of M Crookston at Roy Griak Invitational; Team Sets Mark for Best Time in 6K

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston women's cross country team placed 29th of 37 teams at the Roy Griak Invitational Friday, September 22 at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn., in a race hosted by the University of Minnesota. The Golden Eagles set a program record with the most teams they have beat in a race (eight). UMN Crookston beat three conference teams (Southwest Minnesota State University, Concordia University-St. Paul, and St. Cloud State University) for another program record. 

The Golden Eagles posted a time of 26:25.7 at the Roy Griak Invitational for a 6K record, setting their 2022 Roy Griak mark of 27:55. Anna Grabowski (Jr., Waterdown, Ontario) led U of M Crookston with a time of 24:50.1 in the 6K. Madison Hilliard (So., Jacksonville, N.C.) posted a time of 25:21.1. Grace Alwardt (Fr., Lake Elsinore, Calif.) posted a 26:18.2 running in her first collegiate 6K for a personal record at the collegiate level. Emma Williams (Fr., Nashwauk, Minn.) posted a 27:25.5 in her first 6K for a collegiate personal record. Evelyn Dupont (Fr., Las Vegas, Nev.) made her 6K debut in college with a time of 28:13.7 for a collegiate personal best. Catie Neumann (Fr., Alexandria, Minn.) posted a time of 29:34.6 in her first collegiate 6K for a personal record. Alex Middendorf (Sr., Sauk Centre, Minn.) posted a time of 31:45.3 in the 6K. 

Augustana University won the team title. Sonoma State University's Gianna Bomarito was the individual champion with a time of 21:44.2.

The Golden Eagles head to Jamestown, N.D., for the Jimmie Invitational, on Friday, October 6 at 4 p.m.
