Burnsville, Minn. – After finishing seventh last season at the NSIC Championships, Minnesota Crookston men's golf was picked to move up two spots and finish fifth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll released this morning.
Alessandro Trenta of Winona State was named the Preseason Golfer of the Year.
The Warriors received five of the nine first place votes, while Bemidji State and Concordia-St. Paul each received two votes and were picked to finish second and third, respectively. Minnesota State and the Golden Eagles round out the top five.
Junior
Layton Bartley (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) was tabbed as the golfer to watch for the Golden Eagles. Bartley finished the 2022-23 season with an average score of 77.5, while finishing tied for 14
th at the NSIC Championships.
Bartley competed in nine events last season and was the third lowest scorer for the Golden Eagles. The Fargo native finished with a season low of 72 two different times; once at the Ichabod Invitational and once at the Newman Invitational. As a team, the Golden Eagles finished five rounds under 300 last season.
The Golden Eagles will have five meets in the fall, kicked off by the Bemidji State Invite on September 11
th and 12
th, hosted by Bemidji State.
