Minnesota Crookston Jump Seat Equestrian Earns High Point Team Honors Saturday and Sunday at NDSU

FARGO, N.D. - The University of Minnesota Crookston hunt seat equestrian team won High Point Team accolades Sunday after a great weekend at North Dakota State University. The Golden Eagles had a 13-point spread between them and the Reserve High Point Team in Sunday's IHSA meet. Additionally, the Golden Eagles had back-to-back High Point Riders, with Gabriella Siefkes (Jr., Aberdeen, S.D.) earning the accolade Saturday, and Juliana Gullo (So., Itasca, Ill.) on Sunday. Faith Retzlaff (So., Columbus, Wis.) earned Reserve High Point Rider Sunday. Alexandra Wentland (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) qualified for the IHSA Regional Championships in Intermediate Fences.

Saturday, Siefkes put together a great ride to take first in Open Fences, with Gullo taking fifth. In Intermediate Fences, Kristen Borchert (So., Coon Rapids, Minn.) took second, while Wentland placed fourth. In Limit Fences, Retzlaff placed fifth in section one, while Jada Schimke (So., Maple Grove, Minn.) took sixth in the second section.

Minnesota Crookston had a great showing in Open Flat. Siefkes placed first, while Gullo took third, Wentland fifth, and Alex Pfaffenbach (Sr., Appleton, Wis.) placed sixth. In Limit Flat, Borchert placed first in her section, with Schimke taking third, and Retzlaff fifth. In Novice Flat, Jane Droll (Fr., Highland Park, Ill.) finished second in her section, with Delainey Lancaster (Sr., Watertown, S.D.) taking fifth. Zoe Waldron (So., Maple Grove, Minn.) took sixth in her section. In Pre-Novice Flat Saturday, Sophie Gustafson (Fr., Sleepy Eye, Minn.) placed second in her section. Christina Fiedler (So., Burtrum, Minn.) finished third in section three, while Samantha Halliday (Fr., Fort Frances, Ontario) placed fifth in the first section.

In Intro Flat, Alexis Heaton (Fr., Frazee, Minn.) placed fourth Saturday.

Minnesota Crookston had great Open Fences rides Sunday, Gullo took first, while Siefkes placed third. They continued their strong showing in fences, with Borchert taking first in Intermediate Fences, followed by Retzlaff earning first-place in Limit Fences. Schimke placed fourth in Limit Fences. 

U of M Crookston took their momentum into flat, with Gullo placed first. Wentland took second, while Siefkes placed fifth. In Limit Flat, Retzlaff placed second in her section. Schimke took fourth, while Borchert placed sixth in her section. In Novice Flat, Droll had a great showing, taking first. Waldron and Lancaster each placed fifth in their respective sections. 

In Pre-Novice Flat, Fielder placed second in her section. Gustafson and Halliday each took sixth in their respective sections. In Intro Flat, Heaton placed fourth. 

The Golden Eagles next compete in a NCEA meet November 3 at South Dakota State University.
