Hot Shooting Helps Huskies Defeat Golden Eagles in Women's Basketball on Saturday

Crookston, Minn. – Katrina Theis scored a season-high 36 points on 17-19 shooting from the field to lead her Huskies to a 71-51 victory over the Golden Eagles on Saturday.

Minnesota Crookston falls to 2-7 (1-2 NSIC) on the season.

The Golden Eagles would get off to a good start, scoring the first two points of the game on a Nicole Hernandez (Jr., F, Oak Creek, Wis.) layup on a beautiful feed from Emma Miller (Fr., G, Albertville, Minn.).

The Huskies would score the next eight points, but Miller and Erika Lane (So., G, Breezy Point, Minn.) would bury three's on back-to-back possessions, cutting the lead to 11-8.

The Huskies would lead by eight after the first 10 minutes.

Hernandez would score a layup on the first possession, followed by a Miller floater, making it 25-19, early on in the second quarter.

SCSU would take a 14 point lead heading into halftime.

Following the halftime break, Alex Page (So., G, Grand Forks, N.D.) would bury a three from the left wing, cutting the Huskies lead to 11.

After the third, the Huskies would lead by 16.

The Golden Eagles would try to chip away, but Theis and the Huskies proved to be too much in the 20-point victory.

Miller led the way with 11 points, as well as six rebounds. Hernandez finished with nine points and six rebounds, as well. Page scored nine off the bench. Freshmen Taryn Frazer (Fr., G, Cass Lake, Minn.) and Janie Tormanen (Fr., F, Menahga, Minn.) each added six points.
