(2023-24) RS-Junior: Nicole Hernandez has set new game highs for herself after an outstanding season...She has set a new high for points scoring 13 points against Winona St while also hitting 3 threes and making 5 field goals...She also dished out 5 assists in that game with 40 minutes of play which is also a new record for her...She has played in 27 games and started in 23 of those games, she averaged around 29.6 minutes per game...She recorded three double-doubles on the year from points and rebounds, in one of those games she grabbed a season-high 14 rebounds...Nicole has shown she is a force on both ends of the floor with a whopping 58 blocks on the season and shooting over 30% from the three-point line.
2022-23 (Junior): Proved to be very valuable to the Golden Eagles this season...Finished with a career-high nine points at home against St. Cloud State in early December and another time at home against The University of Mary, both coming at home...Played a career-high 39 minutes in an overtime win against the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic, where she also pulled down 13 rebounds, also a career-high...7th in the NSIC in total blocks and almost averaged a block per game, which was 5th in the NSIC.
Prior to UMN Crookston:Â Hernandez comes to UMN Crookston from Division II school Lindenwood University in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). She played high school basketball at Oak Creek H.S., the alma mater of Minnesota Crookston men's basketball all-time leading scorer Harrison Cleary. Hernandez appeared in 15 games as a sophomore for the Lions, averaging 1.4 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. She had five blocks during the season. Hernandez secured six rebounds against William Jewell. As a freshman, she played in 20 games for Lindenwood. Hernandez tallied 2.5 points per game, and notched 2.1 rebounds per tilt. She was seventh in the GLVC in blocked shots with 17. She had eight points three times during her freshman season. As a prep, she garnered Second Team All-Conference and Third Team All-Conference accolades. She earned Miss Defense honors and Most Improved accolades. She helped lead her high school team to 117-straight conference wins.
Personal: She is the daughter of Marcos Hernandez and Elvira Gil. Hernandez plans to major in sports and recreation management. Her parents came to the United States 20 years ago to give her and her sisters better educational opportunities.
