Crookston, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston trap team wrapped-up their fall portion of 2022 with Collegiate National Championships this past week.
Minnesota Crookston finished in third place in their conference and sixth out of 15 teams nationally with 472 points. Southwest Wisconsin Technical College placed first, while Lake Superior College and Itasca Community College round out the top three. Western Michigan and Lake Area Technical College were fourth and fifth with 481 and 475 points respectively.
Minnesota Crookston will open up their spring season on March 26, 2023.
In the Female varsity High Gun, the Golden Eagles had a number of outstanding numbers.
Lily Krona (So., Bemidji, Minn.) led the way and tied for fourth with 96 out of 100. There were also six Golden Eagles who finished high.
Ellen Payne (So., St. Louis Park, Minn.), shot 93 to finish ninth, while
Alyssa Kasprick (Sr., Thief River Falls, Minn.) and
Heather Kaup (Fr., Forest Lake, Minn.) shot 92 and 91, to finish 10
th and 11
th, respectively.
Cali Gutknecht (Fr., Mayer, Minn.) shot 90, good for tied for 12
th, as did
Hailey Olson (Jr., Albertville, Minn.).
Madie Wildfeuer (Sr., Ormsby, Minn.) rounded out the top-15 by shooting an 89.
On the Male varsity High Gun side, there were a number of scorers who shot in the 90's.
Cole Girtz (Jr., Park Rapids, Minn.) ended his season the way he finished it, by shooting 98 out of 100, good for a tie in sixth. The next highest Golden Eagle was
Charles Walsh (Sr., Park Rapids, Minn.), who shot 93 for the week.
In the High Gun for male junior varsity,
Ethan Benedict (Fr., Maple Grove, Minn.) wrapped-up his season by shooting 81 out of 100, good for 7
th out of 20.
Both Girtz and Krona went 50 straight last week.
