Crookston, Minn. – The University of
Minnesota Crookston Equestrian jumping seat team had a successful meet this past weekend in Crookston.
On Saturday, there was a tie for first in High Point between the Golden Eagles and North Dakota State University (coin flip determined winner). To wrap-up the meet on Sunday, Wisconsin-River Falls took first in the High Point portion, while Minnesota Crookston finished in first place in the Reserve.
In the individual portion on Saturday, Minnesota Crookston had a number of riders that placed first.
Juliana Gullo (Fr., Itasca, Ill.) finished first on Sunday and second on Saturday in Over Equitation over Fences.
Josie Mills (So., Brandon, Minn.) placed in second on Sunday in that same event.
Alexandra Wetland (So.) and
Gabriella Siefkes (So., Aberdeen, S.D.) placed first on Saturday in Intermediate Equitation over Fences Section one and two, respectively. Siefkes also finished in first place in the Intermediate Equitation on the Flat in section two, as well. In section one in the same event, Wetland placed first.
Keira Boedigheimer (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished in first in the Open Equitation on the Flat.
Kayle Hines (Fr., Oconto Falls, Wis.) and
Ashleigh Lueder (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) placed first and second, respectively, in both the Novice Equitation on the flat and in section one in the same event.
On Sunday, many individuals continued to perform well. Much like she did on Saturday, Boedigheimer placed first in the Open Equitation on the flat, while Siefkes also placed first in the Intermediate Equitation on the Flat.
Kristen Borchert (Fr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) placed first in the Limit Equitation over Fences, Section two, after placing fifth in the same event on Saturday.
A number of Golden Eagles placed in second as well throughout the weekend in different events.
The Golden Eagles will next compete the first week of February, when they travel to Davis, Calif., for a meet hosted by UC Davis.
