Golden Eagles Wrap-up Regular Season with a Pair of Doubleheaders this Weekend

Crookston, Minn. – This weekend, Minnesota Crookston softball will wrap-up the 2021 season with a pair of doubleheaders against the University of Mary and Minot State on Saturday and Sunday. It will also be senior weekend for three Golden Eagle seniors this weekend.

The Golden Eagles will celebrate their three seniors who have meant so much to the program throughout their years as Golden Eagles:

Katie Humhej (P, Surrey, British Columbia)
Darian Pancirov (1B/P, Las Vegas, Nev.)
Cassie Querry (C/3B, Cassville, Pa.)
 
Minnesota Crookston (8-30, 4-20 NSIC)
Minnesota Crookston will look to finish the season on a high note. As a team, the Golden Eagles have scored 209 runs on the season and have been led by Dana Zarn (So., UT, Winnipeg, Manitoba), who leads the team with a .338 average with three home runs and 14 RBI's. Alina Avalos (So., P/1B, Riverside, Calif.) and Cassie Querry (Sr., C/3B, Cassville, Pa.) each hit three home runs on the season. Shaelyn Grant (Fr., C/OF, Grand Junction, Colo.) leads the team with six doubles.

In the circle, this will be the final weekend that Golden Eagle fans will be able to watch Katie Humhej (Sr., P, Surrey, British Columbia) spin the ball. Humhej has 115 strikeouts and counting on the season, which is the single-season program record. Humhej also has a 3.09 ERA on the season. Sofia Gombos (Fr., P, Salinas, Calif.) has earned 19 starts on the season.
 
UMary (7-30, 6-18 NSIC)
UMary has lost seven out of their last eight games, including getting swept at the hands of Winona State. The Marauders will look to right the ship this weekend.
 
Offensively, the Marauders do not have a hitter over the .300 threshold, but have a team average of .256. Eryn De Jonge leads the Marauders with a .291 average and 10 RBI's. Kaylee Kannegeiser leads the team with 18 RBI's. Rachael Laetsch is the team leader with five home runs on the season.
 
In the circle, the Marauders have a team ERA of 9.35 and are led by Alissa Alvarado. The freshman from Montebello, Cal., leads her team with 17 starts and nine complete games, while striking out 51.
 
Minot State (19-19, 12-12 NSIC)
The Beavers have already clinched a spot in the NSIC playoffs and have a huge win over Winona State last weekend.
 
Isis Cabral and Jamie Odlum are dangerous hitters in the Beaver lineup. Both are hitting over .400, with Cabral hitting .411 with three home runs on the season. Jazmin Karanungan, Maggie Mercer and Julia Suchan are each hitting over .300, while Suchan leads the team with 32 RBI's. The Beavers play small ball, as they only have hit nine home runs on the season.
 
In the circle, Trinity Valentine leads the way. The junior from Las Vegas has a 3.93 ERA and is 11-8 in 19 starts with 104 strikeouts on the season. Freshman Gabi Dawyduk is also having a nice first season as a Beaver in the circle.
