Minnesota Crookston (8-28, 4-18 NSIC)
The Golden Eagles will look to some road magic this weekend, as they look to end a modest five-game losing streak. The Golden Eagles were swept in a pair of doubleheaders last weekend against Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State. Offensively,
Dana Zarn (So., UT, Winnipeg, Manitoba) has been the most consistent Golden Eagle, hitting .347, with an .887 OPS to go along with three home runs and 14 RBI's.
Jordan Peterson (R-Jr., UT, Lakeville, Minn.) and
Alina Avalos (So., P/1B, Riverside, Calif.) have been two of the better hitters as well this season for Minnesota Crookston.
In the circle,
Katie Humhej (Sr., P, Surrey, British Columbia) has been terrific. With her 10 strikeout performance in last Thursday's win over St. Cloud State, Humhej set the single-season strikeout record with 110. The number was currently set by
Paige Pitlick and her 100 strikeouts in 2019. Humhej has a 2.79 ERA in 98 innings of work.
Wayne State College (7-27, 4-18 NSIC)
The Wildcats are feeling pretty good about themselves, following a sweep over Minnesota State University, Moorhead last Sunday afternoon. It was the first time this season that the Wildcats have won two games in a row.
The Wildcats offense has been led by the duo of Kim Vidlak and Kortney Buresh. The duo has combined for 89 hits on the season and 25 RBI's. Riley Holmberg and Kamryn Sparks are the other two Wildcats' hitters above the .300 threshold. Ashley Fernandez leads her team with six home runs on the season. The WSC offense has scored just 118 runs on the season.
In the circle, the Wildcats have been led by Hadley Chvatal and Sloan Cooksey, who have combined to make 23 starts on the season. Cooksey has the most decisions on the season, currently sitting on 4-10 on the season, which leads her team with those four wins. Cooksey has 74 strikeouts in 92 innings of work on the season.
Augustana (32-4, 20-2 NSIC)
The Vikings are really good. Like the number one team in the nation, good. The Vikings have won four games in a row and have won 19 out of their last 20 games. Augustana won the 2019 National Championship.
The Vikings feature one of the best offenses in the conference and maybe in the entire nation. Kendall Cornick and Abbie Lund pace the Vikings offense with their .466 and .418 averages on the season. Cornick leads the way with her 13 doubles on the season. Mary Pardo is a threat anytime she sets foot in the box. The junior from Andover, Minn., currently leads the conference with a whopping 15 home runs and has a pair of two home run games against Minnesota Duluth and Southwest Minnesota State. The Vikings offense is dangerous.
Ashley Mickschi and Amber Elliot have combined for all 36 starts on the season. Mickschi leads the team with a 1.87 ERA and has 78 strikeouts in 116.1 innings of work, while giving up just 40 runs on the season. Elliot leads the team with 98 strikeouts in 104.1 innings of work.
