UMN Crookston Softball Travels to Take on Minnesota State University Moorhead Wednesday

CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston softball team is gearing up to return to play with a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 17. The Golden Eagles will travel to Moorhead, Minn. to face Minnesota State University Moorhead in two non-conference games at 1 and 3 p.m at Nemzek Softball Field.
The Golden Eagles are currently 2-10 in non-conference play. Wednesday's games against the Dragons will be the final non-conference tests for UMN Crookston before opening up NSIC play March 30 at Bemidji State University.

Minnesota Crookston
Minnesota Crookston may have had a slow start to the season, but have been working hard at practice in the last couple weeks to prepare for their doubleheader. Dana Zarn (So., IF, Winnipeg, Manitoba.), leads the Golden Eagles in batting averages sitting at a .362 average. Zarn also leads with the second highest amount of RBI's for the Golden Eagles tied with Shaelyn Grant (Fr., C/OF, Grand Junction, Colo.), coming in at five. Rachel Jones (Fr., UT, Fort Collins, Colo.) is another player who is at the top of the stats for the Golden Eagles. Jones is second for batting averages with a .286 and second for runs scored tied with Hailey Hatfield (Fr., UT ,Olathe, Kan.) with both producing five.

Other notable players include Gabriella Blomdahl (So., OF, Duluth, Minn.), who is currently leading the Golden Eagles with seven runs scored. Another stat leader is Cassie Querry (Sr., C/3B, Cassville, Pa.), who is doing a great job with helping her team get runs eading the team in RBI's sitting at seven.
On the mound, Katie Humhej (Sr., P, Surrey, British Columbia.), has been leading in pitching with an ERA of 3.03. The senior pitcher is also leading in strikeouts with an amazing 35.

The Dragons enter their NSIC conference play with a 2-6 mark on their season so far.

Jordey Smith leads the team in batting averages with a .316, and has also notched three runs. Samantha Gjerde is second for batting averages and is also hitting above a .300 average, while also leading the Dragons in RBI's, producing four.

As for pitching, Anna Lang has the leading ERA of 7.29, and is second in strikeouts with seven. Reece Dahl has the second highest ERA that stands at 7.50, and leads with strikeouts sitting on 11.
