GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's tennis team fell 9-0 to Upper Iowa University in a match Friday evening at Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D. The Golden Eagles fall to 0-2 on the season with the loss.
In doubles,
Catherine Brown (Sr., Powell Butte, Ore.) and
Whitney Erickson (So., Spring Valley, Minn.) put up a fight against Saki Kawabata and Kelly Jachymowski but fell 8-3. At the No. 2 slot,
Bailey Morris (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) and
Nikki Dogan (So., Grand Forks, N.D.) fell 8-1 to Isabella Sella and Linn Sorman. At the No. 3 spot,
Reanne Erickson (Fr., Fargo, N.D.) and
Tien Nguyen (Fr., Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) fell 8-0 to Anna Okolot and Julia Prokopyshyn.
In singles, Brown fell to Kawabata, 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2 singles, Erickson fell to Sella, 6-2, 6-2. At the No. 3 spot, Sorman defeated Morris, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 4 singles, Jachymowski defeated Dogan, 6-0, 6-0. At the No. 5 singles spot, Erickson fell to Okolot, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 6, Nguyen fell 6-0, 6-0 to Prokopyshyn.
The Golden Eagles will take on Winona State University at 8 a.m. at Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D.
