CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston women's basketball team will host Upper Iowa University and No. 10 Winona State University in a pair of contests against NSIC South opponents this weekend. UMC will battle Upper Iowa at 6 p.m. Fri., Jan. 29, while they will take on the Warriors Sat., Jan. 30 at 4 p.m.
UMC comes in with a 13-5 (10-4 NSIC) mark, while Winona State is 19-2 (12-2 NSIC) on the season and Upper Iowa is 5-15 (4-10 NSIC).

#Tidbits- The UMC women's basketball team is 13-5 on the season with a 10-4 mark in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles are coming off a split in their battle for the NSIC North last weekend against MSU Moorhead and Northern State. UMC defeated the Dragons 71-60, but fell to the Wolves 76-70. UMC will have another big weekend as they host two NSIC South foes in Upper Iowa University and Winona State University. Winona State is currently No. 10 in the nation.
- The Golden Eagles continue to find success behind the arc on the season. UMC is shooting 42.7 percent from long range, which is second in the nation. UMC is led by
Alexa Thielman, who is eighth in the nation with a 46.6 percent clip from beyond the arc.
Alison Hughes is shooting 45.2 percent from beyond the arc, while
Micaela Noga is shooting 41.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Katrina Nordick continue to break milestones as they are currently No. 4 and No. 3 on the all-time scoring charts at UMC. Thielman recently set the three-point mark, surpassing Amy Kuznia. Nordick needs just 52 rebounds to break Laurie Tyson's career rebounding record. Nordick is third all-time in scoring and needs 256 points to move past Karna Plaine in second, while Thielman is just behind Nordick.

- The Golden Eagles have been strong defending the three, as well as shooting three. The Golden Eagles are currently fourth in the NSIC, limiting opponents to 28.1 percent from beyond the arc. UMC is the second defensive rebounding team in the NSIC, averaging 29.6 boards per game. The Golden Eagles have also been strong from the charity stripe, shooting 75.1 percent, which is fourth in the league.
- Upper Iowa comes into the weekend with a 5-15 mark and a 4-10 record in conference play. The Peacocks have been led on the season by guard Aleesha Cleaver, who is averaging 13.2 points per game, while guard Whitney Kieffer is averaging 11.5 points per game. The Peacocks have hung with teams on the boards averaging 34.7 rebounds compared to 35.1 for their opponents. They have struggled beyond the arc, shooting just a 30.1 percent clip led by 31.7 percent from Sam Ofstad.
- Winona State has had a great 2015-16 season thus far. The Warriors are currently No. 10 in the nation with a 19-2 mark overall and 12-2 record in conference play. Winona State has four players averaging double-figures led by three players in the back court. Illinois State transfer Alexis Foley leads the way with 15 points per game. She is also a deadly three-point shooter at 42.5 percent. Tara Roelofs is averaging 13 points per game, while Connor Nagle is averaging 10.9 points per game. At the post position, University of Iowa transfer Kayla Timmerman is averaging 12.2 points and 6.9 rebounds.
