WINONA, Minn.– The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team fell 9-0 to Upper Iowa University Saturday in Winona, Minn. The Golden Eagles fall to 0-1 in the
Ryan McGuigan era.
In doubles,
Catherine Brown (Jr., Powell Butte, Ore./Animal Science) and
Whitney Erickson (Fr., Spring Valley, Minn./Early Childhood Education) fell to Iris Verweij and Saki Kawabata 8-3 at No. 1. At No. 2 doubles,
Christina Smith (Fr., Oylen, Minn./Communication) and
Nikki Dogan (Fr., Grand Forks, N.D./Health Science) fell to Yamit Vodavoz and Victoria Kulboskas 8-0. At No. 3 doubles,
Rachelle Alcini (Sr., Ann Arbor, Mich./Health Science) and
Chelsea Burrows (So., Eagan, Minn.) fell to Kelly Jachymowski and Anna Okolot 8-0.
In singles, Brown fell to Verweij, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. At No. 2 singles, Erickson lost to Kawabata, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, Smith fell to Vodavoz, 6-0, 6-0. At the No. 4 slot, Dogan lost to Okalot, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 5, Alcini lost to Kulboskas, 6-0, 6-0, while Burrows fell 6-0 to 6-0 to Jachymowski at No. 6 singles.
The Golden Eagles will take on Winona State University at 7 p.m. Sat., Feb. 14.
