Box Score 2 SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- The University of Minnesota Crookston softball team fell 11-1 and 14-1 to No. 13 Augustana College (S.D.) Sun., April 6 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Augustana's bats were potent in both games Sunday as UMC was unable to overcome the Vikings.
Brooke Vatthauer (Jr., P/1B, Crookston, Minn./Health Science) got the start in game one and would go three innings, giving up six earned runs on six hits, as she suffered the loss.
Augustana scattered runs through the five innings of game one but had a big fourth inning with eight runs tallied off
Cateline Fafard (Sr., P/UT, Dauphin, Manitoba/Elementary Education). Fafard would give up eight earned runs on seven hits in 0.2 innings pitched.
Minnesota Crookston was led in game one by
Ashley Manusos (Sr., OF, Spring Grove, Ill./Sports and Rec Management), who was 2-of-2 for the day. Augustana's bats were paced by Caitlin Nichol, who was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI while Linday Spanton was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI's.
In game two,
Paige Schaust (Sr., OF/P, Delano, Minn./Early Childhood Education) got the loss in game two.Schaust would give up 10 runs, only two of which were earned, on eight hits in two innings.
The Vikings would again come up with a big inning with eight runs in the second inning.
UMC was led by
Josee Plante (Jr., 3B, Manitou, Manitoba/Health Science), who was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Augustana looked to Janelle Trautmann, who was 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored and Sarah Kennedy, who was 2-for-2 with one run scored and one RBI.
The Golden Eagles are scheduled to play Bemidji State University April 8 in Bemidji, Minn.
