BURNSVILLE, Minn. - University of Minnesota Crookston student-athletes Emmah Burnes (Jr., Tulare, Calif.) of the soccer team and Kyle Odenbach (Sr., Thompson, N.D.) were announced as NSIC Honors Student-Athletes for their work in the classroom and their field of competitive play.
Burnes, a Tulare, Calif., native, has a 4.0 GPA in communication. Burnes was named one of Minnesota Crookston's Students of the Year, and the Minnesota Crookston Female Scholar Student-Athlete of the Year. She has excelled in her major, winning many other campus-wide awards including but not limited to Sport Media & Communication Student of the Year, and Communication Student of the Year. Burnes was an Academic All-District pick in 2025 as selected by CSC. In addition, she earned All-NSIC Second Team accolades for the Golden Eagles, and earned Highlight of the Year for her game-winning goal against Minnesota State University Moorhead.
Odenbach, a Thompson, N.D., native, has a 3.95 GPA in health sciences. He was the Minnesota Crookston Male Scholar Student-Athlete of the Year, and earned the Male Super Eagle (Super Geag) Award for his contributions to the University. Odenbach has played a major role on the baseball team, with a 1-2 mark and a 6.12 ERA in 32.1 innings pitched with nine appearances as a senior.
