SARTELL, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team concluded the regular season with a 4-3 victory over Minnesota State University Moorhead Saturday, April 11 at Sta-Fit Tennis Center in Sartell, Minn.
The Golden Eagles conclude the regular season with a 10-8 (7-3 NSIC) record. Minnesota Crookston reached 10 wins for the second time in program history. MSU Moorhead dropped to 3-12 (2-7 NSIC). The Golden Eagles won both matches this season against the Dragons and are 3-1 in their last four tilts. Minnesota Crookston claims a spot in the NSIC Tournament for the third-straight season.
Minnesota Crookston opened the match by earning the doubles point. At the No. 2 spot, Ariadna Solis Guals (Jr., Santpedor, Spain) and Asli Oktay (So., Istanbul, Turkey) picked up a 6-3 win over Katryna Hansen and Camilla Bonini. At No. 3 doubles, Nadia Cases Mundet (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) and Kavya Singh (Sr., Agra, India) picked up their 12th doubles win with a 6-4 win over Autumn Kron and Emm Farder. At No. 1 doubles, Daniela de Lucas Rivera (Jr., Madrid, Spain) and Abril Manas Hernandez (So., Barcelona, Spain) fell 6-2 to Luzmary Diaz and Sophia Felderman.
In singles, Cases Mundet captured her 11th singles win with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Felderman. At the No. 4 spot, Solis Guals defeated Farder, 7-5, 6-2. At No. 6 singles, Manas Hernandez took down Kron, 6-3, 7-5. De Lucas Rivera fell 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 to Diaz. Oktay was upended 6-4, 6-4 by Hansen. Singh was defeated 6-3, 7-5 by Bonini.Â
The Golden Eagles advance to the NSIC Tournament April 24-26 at Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, S.D.
