Jimmies Outscore Minnesota Crookston by Nine in Second Half in 84-77 Win

Jamestown, N.D. -- Spencer Swenson (Fr., F, Sauk Rapids, Minn.) finished with his fourth double-double on the season, 23 points and 12 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Jamestown came from behind to knock off Minnesota Crookston, 84-77, inside Harold Newman Arena in Jamestown.

It would be a good start for the maroon and gold, as Owen Chervestad (Fr., G, Oklee, Minn.), Swenson and Donez Lindsey (Fr., G, Stockton, Calif.) would get the Golden Eagles off to a 6-2 start.

Later in the half, Lindsey would bury back-to-back trey balls as the Golden Eagles would continue to score efficiently taking an 18-12 lead.

UJ would cut into the lead and make it 33-31, but Brady Westphal (Fr., G, West Fargo, N.D.) would step into a midrange jumper, which would start an 8-0 run for a 41-31 lead, forcing a Jimmies timeout.

The Jimmies would end the half on an 8-0 run to trail by just two heading into the half.

It would be an extended 14-0 run for the Jimmies, as they would score the first six points of the half, but Alijah Washington (Jr., G, San Jose, Calif.) would bury a pair of free throws to cut the lead to two.

UJ would extend their lead to five at 50-45, but Brayden Carlson (So., C, Woodbury, Minn.) would score two of his season high 13 points on a tip-in.

The Jimmies would take a seven point lead, but Westphal would cash in on a massive three to cut the lead to four.

Down the stretch, Minnesota Crookston would get within four on a number of occasions, but the Jimmies would bury free throws for the seven point win.

Swenson led the way with 23 points and 12 boards, while Lindsey finished with 15 points and three assists. Carlson added 13 points and four rebounds on a perfect 5-5 from the field. Washington poured in nine points off the bench. Chervestad and Westphal added six points and five points, respectively.

Both teams made 31 field goals and the Golden Eagles outrebounded UJ by three. The Jimmies outscored the Golden Eagles by 12 from the three point line.

Minnesota Crookston will close the season with three of their last four games at home, starting with Minot State on Thursday at 7:30 PM.
