Grand Forks, N.D. -- Bemidji State won a thrilling doubles point and then was able to win four out of the possible six single points to defeat Minnesota Crookston in non-conference tennis action, 5-2.
It's the first win for BSU over the Golden Eagles in the last six tries.
BSU would earn the doubles point with the help of a thrilling 7-6 win over Nadia Cases Mundet (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) and Abril Manas Hernandez (So., Barcelona, Spain). Ariadna Sulis Guals (Jr., Santpedor, Spain) and Asli Oktay (So., Istanbul, Turkey) would earn a 6-4 win in doubles.
Needing four points in singles, Minnesota Crookston would earn a pair of points as Cases Mundet and Terez Drasilova (Fr., Naples, Fla.) each won their matchup handily.
Minnesota Crookston will look to go 2-1 on the weekend on Sunday as they head to Fargo for a neutral court match against Gustavus Adolphus at 9 AM.
