Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles are 1-0 following a 6-1 win over Minnesota State University Moorhead. This Friday, they will play two games. The first one on Friday morning will be against the University of Minnesota Morris and the evening game will be against Bemidji State University for a non-conference game.

In the first match of the season, the Golden Eagles were 2-1 in doubles. Daniela de Lucas Rivera (Jr., Madrid, Spain) and Terez Drasilova (Fr., Naples, Fla.) lost 7-5, Asli Oktay (So., Istanbul, Turkey) and Ariadna Solis Guals (Jr., Santpedor, Spain) won 6-4 and Kavya Singh (Sr., Agra, India) and Nadia Cases Mundet (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) won 6-0.

As for the singles matches, the Golden Eagles went 5-1. de Lucas Rivera lost 6-2 and 6-1, Cases Mundet won 6-2 and 7-5, Drasilova lost 6-2 before winning 6-0 and 6-2, Solis Guals won 6-2 and 6-1, Singh won 6-3 in both sets and Abril Manas Hernandez (So., Barcelona, Spain) won both sets 6-1. 

The Cougars.

The Cougars opened their season on the 31st with two games, losing both 7-0. In those matches, they played Sioux Falls and Gustavus Adolphus. The Cougars did not win any doubles or singles sets. The big returning player for the Cougars is Allison Bruhn who has been one of their stronger players in the last four years. 

The Beavers.

The Beavers have started off 2-0, defeating the College of St. Scholastica 7-0 and Minnesota Duluth 4-3. The Beavers are 9-3 in singles and 6-0 in doubles. Their player to watch is freshman Marla Davies. Davies won both of her singles matches in two sets, with scores of 6-0 and three sets of 6-2. In doubles, she, along with Mia Leshem, won 6-3 and 6-4.

The Golden Eagles and Cougars are set to start at 10:30 a.m. at Choice Health and Fitness on Friday. The Golden Eagles and Beavers will start at 6 p.m.
