Grand Forks, N.D. - Golden Eagle Tennis played their first of two games this weekend against Division One opponents, falling 6-1 to Creighton University. It was a tough matchup, but the Golden Eagles played some tight sets in the loss, taking one of the singles matches. With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 3-6 on the season.
In doubles, Daniela de Lucas Rivera (Jr., Madrid, Spain) and Abril Manas Hernandez (So., Barcelona, Spain) fell 6-2, Asli Oktay (So., Istanbul, Turkey) and Ariadna Solis Guals (Jr., Santpedor, Spain) were trailing 5-2 but the match was marked a DNF, and Kavya Singh (Sr., Agra, India) and Nadia Cases Mundet (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) lost 6-1.
In singles, Daniela de Lucas Rivera lost set one 7-5 and was leading 1-0 when Sophie Schwartz could not continue, leading to de Lucas Rivera earning the win. Asli Oktay lost 7-5 and 6-0, Nadia Cases Mundet lost 6-1 and 6-0, Ariadna Solis Guals lost both sets 6-0, Abril Manas Hernandez lost 6-0 and 6-2, and Kavya Singh lost 6-1 and 6-0.
The Golden Eagles played a competitive match today, despite the loss, and will look to have a strong performance tomorrow morning against the University of North Dakota.
