GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team fell 5-2 to the University of Sioux Falls in a home match at Choice Health and Fitness Saturday, February 21 in Grand Forks, N.D.
The Golden Eagles dropped to 3-5 with the loss, while Sioux Falls improved to 3-3 with the win. USF has won all 13 match-ups all-time with Minnesota Crookston.
In doubles, the No. 3 pair of Nadia Cases Mundet (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) and Kavya Singh (Sr., Agra, India) earned a 6-2 win over Mylin Lemke and Emma Rangel. At No. 1 doubles, Daniela de Lucas Rivera (Jr., Madrid, Spain) and Abril Manas Hernandez (So., Barcelona, Spain) fell 6-4 to Chloe Siegfort and Sofiya Janos. At the No. 2 slot, Asli Oktay (So., Istanbul, Turkey) and Adriana Solis Guals (Jr., Santpedor, Spain) fell 6-2 to Ella Hancock and Sydney Osburn.
In singles, Cases Mundet defeated Osburn, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. At the No. 6 spot, Singh upended Rangel, 6-3, 6-2 for a point for the Golden Eagles. At No. 1 singles, Siegfort edged de Lucas Rivera, 6-4, 6-3. Oktay fell 6-1, 6-1 to Janos at the No. 2 spot. At No. 4 singles, Solis Guals was defeated by Hancock, 6-3, 6-1. Manas Hernandez was upended 6-3, 6-0 by Emily Thimsen.
Minnesota Crookston hosts Creighton University February 28 at 10:30 a.m., in Grand Forks, N.D.
