Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles open up their conference play this weekend as they head to Winona to take on Winona State University and Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Golden Eagles have started the season at 2-2, but are currently on a two game losing streak. Those two games were both 5-2 losses, with one to Bemidji State University and one to Gustavus Adolphus College.
In singles this season, Daniela de Lucas Rivera (Jr., Madrid, Spain) is 1-3, Asli Oktay (So., Istanbul, Turkey) is 3-1, Nadia Cases Mundet (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) is 4-0, Terez Drasilova (Fr., Naples, Fla.) is 3-1, Kavya Singh (Sr., Agra, India) is 2-0, and Abril Manas Hernandez (So., Barcelona, Spain) is 2-2.
In doubles, de Lucas Rivera and Drasilova are 1-3, the team is 4-6 in total. They will look to get back on track this weekend.
The Warriors.
The Warriors have started their season 1-0 with a 4-3 win over St. Cloud State.
Doubles.
The Warriors started off the season going 1-2 in doubles. Ally Burger and Lainey Ristau lost 6-2, Izabel Barr and Clara Thoemke won 7-5, and Debbie Ogdahl and Nikita Agrawal won 7-6.
Singles.
In singles, Lainy Ristau is 0-1, Clara Thoemke is 1-0, Izabel Barr is 0-1, Nikita Agrawal is 1-0, Ally Burger is 0-1, and Kate Velander is 1-0.
The Mavericks.
The Mavericks are going into their season opener this Saturday against the Golden Eagles. Last year, the Mavericks were second in the conference, and finished as the runner up in the NSIC Tournament.
The Mavericks will see their best singles player return from last year, with McKenna DeMarce back for her senior year. She was 12-3 in singles last year, and went 11-5 in doubles, but will have a new partner following the graduation of Elizabeth Felderman.
