Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles will finally finish out their road stand this week as they head to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to play the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The Golden Eagles enter the weekend at 6-2-0 and the BluGolds come in at 5-6-0. This will be the first series between the two teams since January of 2024. In that series, the Golden Eagles won game one 5-2 before falling 4-3 in overtime. The last time the two teams played, however, was at the WCCHA Tournament in February of 2025 where the Golden Eagles won 7-1.

The Golden Eagles own the advantage in the all time series, holding a 4-2-1 record over the BluGolds. The Golden Eagles did lose the first two games between the two teams, but have gone 4-0-1 since that series. The University of Minnesota Crookston has scored 29 goals against the BluGolds, good for 4.14 per game. When the Golden Eagles win in these matchups, they win big. The largest margin of victory for the Golden Eagles is 7-1, with the smallest margin of victory coming in at 5-2.

The Golden Eagles Player to Watch for this weekend's series is Braydon Caron (Fr., F, Mayville, N.D.) who currently sits in third on the Golden Eagles in scoring. Caron has been fantastic in his first season in the Maroon and Gold, scoring five goals and five assists for 10 points in eight games. Caron's best game this season was against North Dakota State University on October 17th. In that game, Caron scored two goals and two assists for four points in the team's 8-1 win over the Bison.

For the BluGolds, the player that the Golden Eagles will need to keep an eye on this weekend is Jack Bowe. Bowe has played three games against the Golden Eagles in his career and, while he has only had one assist on the scoresheet in those three games, he has also been a part of a win over the Golden Eagles. On the season, Bowe leads the team in goals with seven and points with 13 in 11 games played.

The Golden Eagles and BluGolds are set for puck drop on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Chippewa Area Ice Arena in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. The two teams will play game two on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Chippewa Area Ice Arena.
