Golden Eagle volleyball will head on the road for the final time this season for three straight matches, starting at Bemidji State on Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles will then head to North Dakota for their final road trip at Minot State and The University of Mary. The Golden Eagles and Bemidji State will meet for the third time this season. The Beavers are one of two opponents that the Golden Eagles have played this season, joining the University of Jamestown as the other.
·  SAVE THE GOOD FOR THE BEST. Minnesota Crookston gave Wayne State College everything they could've asked for on Saturday, albeit in a three-set loss. Minnesota Crookston hit .202 in the match against the No. 2 team in the nation, which is their highest attacking percentage in more than a month when they hit .286 in their lone win of the conference season at home against Minot State. To put the strong attacking percentage, it's the fifth highest attacking percentage by an unranked team against Wayne State this season. Those numbers are something to build on, starting tomorrow.
·  DO WHAT YOU DO, 2. Part of the Golden Eagles offensive success against one of the best teams in the nation was senior Madison Carsten. The Wadena, Minn., finished the match with 13 kills and eight digs, marking the second time in her career that Carsten has finished with ten or more digs against Wayne State College. Carsten found the double-digit kill mark for the first time in seven matches.Â
·  LAST TIME ON THE ROAD. The Golden Eagles will wrap-up their road portion of the schedule this weekend for three road matches at Bemidji State, Minot State and UMary. The season started in South Dakota, then the Golden Eagles flew to California and now the road trips will end in North Dakota. A lot of miles traveled and a lot of matches played.
· HIGHEST IN THREE YEARS. Minnesota Crookston finished the match with WSC with 36 kills in the match. The 36 kills in the three set loss to a ranked opponent since October of 2024, where they also finished with 36 kills, coincidentally also against Wayne State. The Golden Eagles had 61 kills a season ago in a five-set loss to nationally-ranked Minnesota Duluth, but we are just counting a three-set match for this in particular.

BEMIDJI STATE. The Beavers have taken a significant step forward this 2026 season after a 2025 record of 7-21. The Beavers currently sit 10th in the NSIC with an overall record of 15-8. The Beavers will match-up with the Golden Eagles for the third time this season looking for their third sweep.Â
ATHMAN ATTACKS. Ava Athman, the 5'10" opposite hitter has made her presence known at the net. The Sauk Rapids, Minnesota native ranks third in the NSIC in total kills with 297. The senior amassed 680 kills in her time with the Beavers so far. Athman also has 137 digs on the season, showing that her impact extends beyond the front row.Â
Â
SETTING UP SUCCESS. Sophomore setter Madison Tripp has helped direct the Beavers offense, leading the team and ranking third in the NSIC with 881 assists. The Kaukauna, Wisconsin native has also recorded 215 digs on the season. With the young setter starting opportunities in both rows, the Beavers have set a solid foundation for continued success.
Â
A NEW CHAPTER. Under first-year head coach Hanhi Johnson, the Beavers have shown improved offensive production and the ability to compete against established conference opponents. With the Beavers win against University of Sioux Falls, they matched their highest win record in 23 years with 15 victories. With Johnson leading the program and several young contributors making an impact, the Beavers are working to turn their progress into consistent success in the powerful NSIC.Â
