Grand Forks, N.D. - The Golden Eagles are 1-0 once again, something that Head Coach Josh Lunak is used to at this point in his Golden Eagle career, and it comes by way of a 6-1 victory over the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons. The Golden Eagles won two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches.
In doubles, Daniela de Lucas Rivera (Jr., Madrid, Spain) and Terez Drasilova (Fr., Naples, Fla.) fell 7-5, Asli Oktay (So., Istanbul, Turkey) and Ariadna Solis Guals (Jr., Santpedor, Spain) won 6-4, and Kavya Singh (Sr., Agra, India) and Nadia Cases Mundet (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) won 6-0.
As for the singles matches, de Lucas Rivera lost 6-2 and 6-1, Cases Mundet won 6-2 and 7-5, Drasilova lost 6-2 before turning it around and winning 6-0 and 6-2, Solis Guals won 6-2 and 6-1, Singh won both of her sets 6-3, and Abril Manas Hernandez (So., Barcelona, Spain) won both of her sets 6-1.
It was a great way to kickstart the season, and they will look to build off of it this Friday. On Friday, the Golden Eagles will welcome in the University of Minnesota Morris at 10:30 a.m. and then Bemidji State University at 6 p.m. at the Choice Health and Fitness tennis courts in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
