Marshall, Minn. -- It was a tale of two nights for Minnesota Crookston men's basketball, who couldn't find much offense on Saturday night at Southwest Minnesota State, falling 90-46 in Marshall.
Minnesota Crookston will head back home after a wild week for a pair of games next Friday and Saturday.
SMSU would bury a three to open the game, but Alijah Washington (R-Jr., G, San Jose, Calif.) would finish a tough layup to cut the lead to one.
SMSU would extend the lead to 7-2, but Donez Lindsey (Fr., G, Stockton, Calif.) would tickle the twine on a high-arching three to make it 7-5.
6 ½ minutes into the first half, Spencer Swenson (Fr., F, Sauk Rapids, Minn.), coming off a career performance, would connect on a jumper to cut the lead to 11-10.
Later in the half, SMSU would take a 27-13 lead before Swenson would finish a jumper in the paint.
Minnesota Crookston would head into the halftime break trailing by 17.
The second half would be all Mustangs, as they would outscore the Golden Eagles by 27 to cruise to the Saturday night victory.
The Golden Eagles would be led by Lindsey and Washington, who finished with 11 and 10, respectively. Swenson added eight off the bench, while Brady Westphal (Fr., G, West Fargo, N.D.) would add six points in the second half.
The Golden Eagles shot 31 percent from the field in the loss.
