Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles returned from winter break for a matchup with the University of Jamestown. The Golden Eagles looked like a team hitting their stride at the right time, winning the game with a final score of 9-1. In net for the Golden Eagles was #30 Adam Goody (Jr., G, Airdrie, Alberta) who entered the evening with a 7-1-0 record, a 3.00 goals against average, and a .902 save percentage. For the Jimmies, it was Xavier Baker with a 6-1-0 record, a 2.79 goals against average and a .921 save percentage.

The Golden Eagles wasted no time in the opening frame, scoring just 52 seconds in on a beautiful passing play capped off by Brody Nordmark (Fr., D, Souris, N.D.) with assists from Anthony Foster (Jr., F, Warroad, Minn.) and Mason Romfo (So., F, Langdon, N.D.) to open the scoring. The Golden Eagles dominated the period in possession, shots and goals. Six minutes after the game's first goal, Alexander Bailey (5th, F, Crosby, N.D.) committed a theft at center ice, stealing the puck from a Jimmies defenseman and going one-on-one with Baker, putting it past the blocker for the second goal of the game. Just four and a half minutes later, Fox Dodds (5th, F, Watford City, N.D.) scored on another great passing play, Brandon Kelly (Jr., D, Minto, N.D.) and Alexander Bailey. With two and a half to play in the period, Ben Hines (Jr., F, Detroit Lakes, Minn.) put the puck through the five-hole on an odd angled shot to put the Golden Eagles up 4-0 against his old team. Logan Syrup (5th, F, Park River, N.D.) and Brody Nordmark had the assists. The Golden Eagles went into intermission up 4-0 and leading 27-7 in shots.

The second period was a little bit different, but still went the Golden Eagles' way. 4:49 into the period, Logan Syrup notched his first goal, and second point, of the night with Ben Hines and Braden Van de Kraats (So., F, Medicine Hat, Alberta) assisting. But, this period was not only goals scored by the Golden Eagles. Four minutes after the Golden Eagles' fifth goal, Tyler Ralph broke through the wall of Goody. Things began to get extremely physical, and the hits started flying. But with a minute and a half remaining in the second period, Fox Dodds put a shot bar-down to regain the five goal lead for the Golden Eagles. Tyler Lorenz (So., F, Shakopee, Minn.) had the assist. The Golden Eagles went into the intermission leading 6-1.

The third period was extremely similar to the opening one, with the Golden Eagles scoring within the first minute. This time, it was Mason Romfo just 30 seconds into the period, and it was off of another great passing play. This goal was assisted by Anthony Foster. Six and a half minutes later, it was 8-1 as Brandon Kelly scored his first goal as a member of the Golden Eagles off of a strange bounce that went off of his skate, then the defenseman, and then slowly slid into the net. Anthony Foster and Mason Romfo earned the assists. With 1:40 left in the game, Braden Van de Kraats scored to make it 9-1. Rudy Moser (So., F, Langdon, N.D.) and Steven Musokranov (Jr., D/F, Plymouth, Minn.) assisted on the goal. The Golden Eagles owned this game, outshooting the Jimmies 63-24, winning 45 of the 79 faceoffs taken, and winning the game 9-1. This game was between the top two teams in the WCCHA, with the Jimmies in first in the KRACH Rankings and the Golden Eagles in second. After tonight's game, the standings should flip, but tomorrow's game will major in terms of final KRACH Rankings.

Adam Goody was on his best effort tonight, stopping 23 of 24 shots. For the Jimmies, Baker made 44 saves on 50 shots against, while Oliver Hicks came in for the third period and made 10 saves on 13 shots against. The Golden Eagles and Jimmies will wrap up their season series tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Crookston Sports Center.
