Newton, Kan. – Minnesota Crookston men's golf continued their great tournament at the Newman Fall Invitational, shooting 292 as a team during the final round and winning the tournament that has seven teams.
Through the three rounds, the Golden Eagles shot 864 as a team, continuing their outstanding run as of late.
Newman finished five strokes behind the Golden Eagles for second place, while Fort Hays State was way behind the field, but finished in third place, 18 strokes behind the winners.
Marc Bofarull Balleste (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) finished in a tie for first, shooting three under par. Cooper Scheck of Fort Hays State tied with Bofarull Balleste.
Connor Czirjak (Jr., Calgary, Alberta),
Holdyn Evjen (So., Hermantown, Minn.) and
Andrew Wilhelm (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) each finished in the top five for the maroon and gold.
Gabe Weller (So., Alexandria, Minn.) and
Carson Shultis (Sr., Fargo, N.D.) made it a school record six golfers finish in the top 10 at a tournament.
The Golden Eagles will look to continue their great fall at the Missouri Western State Holiday Inn Classic next weekend in St. Joseph, Mo.
