Crookston, Minn. – Heading into his fourth season at the helm of Minnesota Crookston men's basketball, head coach Bryan Beamish recently announced the schedule for the 2025-26 season.
As has been customary in the Beamish era, the non-conference schedule should gear the Golden Eagles up for NSIC play. A year ago, the Golden Eagles won five games, including four in the Northern Sun. The season was highlighted by their first win over a ranked opponent in more than a decade, when they knocked off Minot State at home.
It will be a new look Golden Eagle squad this season. The Golden Eagles welcome in nine newcomers to don the maroon and gold, with five freshmen and four transfers. It should be a nice mixture with returners as well, as the Golden Eagles bring back several key contributors.
GD Deng (Sr., G, Des Moines, Iowa),
Landon Dimler (So., G, Mankato, Minn.) and
Brayden Carlson (So., C, Woodbury, Minn.) are back after playing large minutes.
Caiden Swenby (So., G, Fertile, Minn.) and
Hunter Lorenson (So., G, Lake City, Minn.) are back after seeing time in the backcourt. The Golden Eagles will hope to get
Chandler Meeks (R-Jr., G, Omaha, Neb.) back in the fold from an injury and
Cuinn Berger (Jr., G, Esko, Minn.) is back for his third season in the maroon and gold.
The 2025-26 schedule is full of highlights. The Golden Eagles will open the season on the road in Oklahoma for the second time in three seasons, as they will open the season against the University of Central Oklahoma on November 14 in Tahlequah, Okla. The Bronchos and Golden Eagles have never met. The next day, the maroon and gold will play the host school, Northeastern State.
The home opener for the Golden Eagles will be on Nov. 19, as the Golden Eagles host Oak Hills Christian College as the backend of a doubleheader with the women. Thanksgiving week will be a busy one for the Golden Eagles, as they will play three road games that week, starting with the conference opener against MSU Moorhead, who will have a new head coach. The Golden Eagles will then head to Upper Iowa and St. Cloud State to close out November. Minnesota Crookston will have a rare non-conference game in January, as they host Minnesota-Morris on January 5. It will be the first time since 2009 that the Cougars and Golden Eagles have met.
The Golden Eagles will play a 22-game conference schedule, starting on Nov. 25 at MSU Moorhead and ending on Feb. 21 on the road at Bemidji State. The NSIC home opener will also feature the Beavers and Golden Eagles on Dec. 6. The Jimmies of Jamestown will make their way to Crookston for the first time in conference play on Dec. 17. The Golden Eagles will then head to Jamestown later in the season.
With Jamestown entering the NSIC, the conference is back to being split up into the North and South divisions. Including Minnesota Crookston, the North includes Bemidji State, Jamestown, Minnesota Duluth, Minot State, UMary, MSU Moorhead and Northern State. Those teams will play each other twice.
The Golden Eagles will kick off practice in less than two weeks, as they prepare for Central Oklahoma to open their season.
