Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles will head to Minneapolis this weekend for the Roy Griak Invitational. The program's first meet this year was an incredible display, finishing fourth at the Augustana Twilight. That finish included Morgan Shaw (Jr., Redmond, Ore.), Madison Hilliard (Sr., Jacksonville, N.C.) and Natalie Wood (R-So., Big Timber, Minn.) each breaking the previous Golden Eagles Women's 5k record. Morgan Shaw now holds that record at 18:08.
The women's team had five runners finish in the top 100 at the Augustana Twilight: Morgan Shaw in 27th at 18:08, Madison Hilliard in 36th at 18:31, Natalie Wood in 47th at 18:36, Caroline Kuehne (So., Long Prairie, Minn.) in 71st at 19:10, and Grace Alwardt (Jr., Lake Elsinore, Calif.) in 97th at 19:33.
Augustana Twilight was the highest finish in program history, but the team will now look forward to this weekend. This will be the 39th Roy Griak Invitational, and the fifth time that the Golden Eagles are competing. The meet will begin at 12:15 p.m. at the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Minneapolis, Minn.
