Big Rapids, Mich. – After tournament play was postponed a day ago, Minnesota Crookston men's golf finished off the Midwest/Central Regional Preview with 20 holes on the final day. For the second straight tournament, Minnesota Crookston moved up several spots on the final day to finish in eight place.
Rockhurst University won the tournament by a whopping 15 strokes, while Gannon and Ashland finished in second and third, respectively. Ferris State and Davenport rounded out the top five.
Mark Pillar of Ashland and Rasmus Seppanen of Gannon each finished in a tie for first place.
Marc Bofarull Balleste (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) rebounded this tournament and finished in a tie for sixth after shooting a 72 and 71 through the final two rounds playing as an individual. The junior had an eagle on a par-five.
Holdyn Evjen (So., Hermantown, Minn.) shot eight over par on the day but finished in a six-way tie for 17
th.
Connor Czirjak (Jr., Calgary, Alberta) and
Andrew Wilhelm (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) finished in 34
th and 37
th, respectively. Czirjak had a stretch where he birdied three out of four holes. Wilhelm carded a pair of birdies on the day.
Jack Justesen (So., Hawley, Minn.) carded his best round as a Golden Eagle, shooting one under on the day, helped by five birdies and a run of four birdies on four straight holes.
Minnesota Crookston will roll on with the fall season next Monday for their closest tournament to date, as they compete in the Winona State Invite in Lake City, Minn.
