BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The University of Minnesota Crookston men's golf team sits in 10th place after play was suspended due to darkness at the Midwest/Central Region Preview at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich. The Golden Eagles have two roles remaining in the second round, and will play the final 18 holes of the third round, as well, on Tuesday, September 16.
Minnesota Crookston has a combined score of 27-over-par. They shot a 20-over-par 304 in the first round Monday. The Golden Eagles are currently seven-over-par through 16 holes in round two. Minnesota Crookston trails Saginaw Valley State University by two strokes. They currently lead Cedarville University, University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Walsh University, Purdue University Northwest, Northwood University's B squad, Lewis University, Northern Michigan University, Davenport University's B squad, and Roosevelt University.
Holdyn Evjen (So., Hermantown, Minn.) leads the Golden Eagles in 11th place after the first day. Evjen shot a two-under-par 69, tying for fifth all-time in the record book. Evjen is four-over-par through 16 holes in round two. Connor Czirjak (Jr., Calgary, Alberta) shot a four-over-par 75 in the first round. He is three-over-par in round two, and is tied for 27th. Gannon Walsh (Sr., Belgrade, Minn.), and Andrew Wilhelm (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) are tied for 41st. Walsh carded an 81 in round one, but is one-under par in the second frame. Wilhelm carded a 79 in the first round, and is even-par in the second round. Jack Justesen (So., Hawley, Minn.) shot a first round 81, and is 11-over-par in the second round. Marc Bofarull Balleste (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) is competing as an individual. He is in 17th after posting an opening round 74, and is one over-par through 16 holes.
Rockhurst University currently leads the field. Giovanni Delorenzi of Gannon University is three-under-par to lead the individuals. Minnesota Crookston concludes the Midwest/Central Region Preview Tuesday, September 16.
