Big Rapids, Mich. – For the second straight weekend, Minnesota Crookston will compete at a tournament where they are the lone NSIC representative. The Golden Eagles will compete at the Midwest/Central Region Preview hosted by Ferris State at the Katke Golf Club in Big Rapids, Mich.
The Golden Eagles finished in 13
th out of 20 teams at The Mule in Warrensburg, Mo.
The Golden Eagles struggled through the first two rounds on Monday, sitting in 16
th place following Monday at The Mule, but moved up three spots to finish in a tie for 13
th place. The Golden Eagles shot 289 as a team during the final round.
Andrew Wilhelm (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) finished in 33
rd after finishing the final round with five birdies.
Gannon Walsh (Sr., Belgrade, Minn.) and
Holdyn Evjen (So., Hermantown, Minn.) finished in 41
st and 45
th, respectively.
Marc Bofarull Balleste (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) finished in the top five at the NSIC Championships last year and will look for a bounce back in Michigan.
Including the Golden Eagles, it is a solid field, which includes: Gannon University, Lewis University, Cedarville University, Saginaw Valley State University, Purdue University Northwest, Rockhurst University, Parkside, Walsh University, Northern Michigan University, Northwood University, Roosevelt University, Tiffin University, Ferris State University, Davenport University and Ashland University.
Gannon University competed in the NCAA Regional Tournament a season ago.
The three round tournament will commence on Monday for a pair of rounds and finish with one round on Tuesday.
