Minnesota Crookston (16-19, 13-12 NSIC)
After splitting their previous four NSIC series, Minnesota Crookston was able to win two out of three this past weekend on the road at Southwest Minnesota State. The Golden Eagles currently sit in seventh in the NSIC with six more conference series to play.
Offensively, the Golden Eagles hit .267 as a team and have hit 32 home runs on the season. As a team, the Golden Eagles have walked 167 times, 40 more than their opponents, ranking them fourth in the NSIC in base on balls. The top of the Golden Eagle order has been fantastic this season. Freshman
Dylan Debilzen (Fr., OF, Parkers Prairie, Minn.) leads the Golden Eagles in batting average, doubles and stolen bases.
Josh Dykhoff (Jr., P/1B, Wadena, Minn.) ranks second in the NSIC in home runs with 11 and third in RBI, driving in 40.
Aaron Wensloff (So., IF/OF, Roseau, Minn.) and
Brock Larsen (R-Jr., C/1B, Blaine, Minn.) are each hitting above the .280 threshold. In every conference win this year, the Golden Eagles have scored more than six runs.
On the bump, the Golden Eagles have been solid. As a team, the Golden Eagles are fifth in earned run average, fourth in shutouts, fourth in WHIP, third in walks allowed per nine innings and the Golden Eagles defense has turned in 25 double plays on the season and have the sixth best fielding percentage in the conference.
Josh Dykhoff has led the way for the pitching staff and his earned run average, hits allowed per nine, strikeout-to-walk ratio, strikeouts and complete games all rank in the top five of the Northern Sun.
Nate Benning (So., LHP, Browerville, Minn.) and
Kyle Odenbach (Jr., LHP, Thompson, N.D.) have each made nine starts on the year.
Bemidji State (4-28, 3-22 NSIC)
The Beavers have four wins overall this season, including three in the NSIC, which is their most conference wins since 2022, when they also won three. The Beavers have a chance to surpass that total, as they start a seven game home stand, starting this week with their Highway-2 rivals, Minnesota Crookston.
Matt Filippi leads the Beaver offense, hitting .305 on the season with a pair of home runs and 10 RBI. Zach Evenson and Noah Drusch have combined to hit 11 home runs on the year. The Beavers have scored more than 10 runs twice this season and are 1-1 in those games. As a team, the Beavers are hitting .207 on the year, having scored 107 runs on the year, while their opponents have scored 330 runs.
Evenson also is one of the better pitchers for BSU. The senior has started four games on the bump for the Beavers and is 0-3 with a 6.14 ERA on the year. Brandon Lind could get the ball in one of the games for the Beavers, having started in six games on the year, including striking out 10 hitters in a complete game win over Winona State. As a team, BSU has a team ERA of 11.35.
