Grand Forks, N.D. - The Golden Eagles returned home for the first time since February 16th, and they put on quite the showing for the hometown crowd. The Golden Eagles welcomed in Bemidji State University for both teams' fifth in-conference game of the year.
In doubles, the Golden Eagles went 2-1. Daniela de Lucas Rivera (So., Madrid, Spain) and Ariadna Solis Guals (So., Santpedor, Spain) fell 6-1, Blaike Zander (Sr., Bismarck, N.D.) and Asli Oktay (Fr., Istanbul, Turkey) won 6-2, and Nadia Cases Mundet (So., Barcelona, Spain) and Abril Manas Hernandez (Fr., Barcelona, Spain) won 7-6.
In singles, de Lucas Rivera won both sets 7-5, Solis Guals also won in two sets with scores of 6-3 and 6-2, Cases Mundet won in two sets as well, with scores of 6-2 and 6-1, Zander won her two sets 6-4 and 6-2, and Manas Hernandez won 6-2 and 6-0. Oktay had the most intense of the matches, dropping the first set in a back and forth 7-5 final, winning the middle set 6-3, and lost the final set in a back and forth, extremely intense 12-10 final.
The Golden Eagles are back at it next Saturday, April fifth, as they head to Bemidji to take on Minnesota State University, Mankato.
