Golden Eagles Split for Second Straight Day

Viera, Fla. – For the second day in a row, Minnesota Crookston used timely hitting in the sixth inning against Jefferson, pushing the Golden Eagles to a split for the second day in a row. Minnesota Crookston came from behind to defeat Jefferson, 5-2, in game one, before falling to Ursuline by a pair.

Minnesota Crookston moves to 7-12 on the year.

Game One
The Golden Eagles would strike first in the bottom of the fourth inning, as Whitnee Curry (Sr., MIF, Lincoln, Neb.) would drive in Emerson Thompson (R-Jr., C, Lincoln, Neb.), who started the rally with a walk.

After six, one-hit innings, the Rams would finally get to Riley Blake (Fr., P/OF, Las Vegas, Nev.), scoring two runs off the freshman in the top of the sixth.

Like they did in the win over D'Youville, the maroon and gold would answer right back. Chayse Doering (Fr., OF, Shakopee, Minn.) would drive in a run with an infield single, tying the game at two. One batter later, Madisen Yandle (Fr., SS, Lakeville, Minn.) would hit her first career triple, driving in a pair of runs and giving the Golden Eagles a two run advantage. The Golden Eagles would add another insurance run and lead 5-2 heading into the seventh.

Gabrielle Gomez (Fr., P/1B, Lakewood, Calif.) would collect her first career win, slamming the door on Jefferson for the three run win.

Minnesota Crookston had six hits in the game, led by Doering, who was 2-4 with a run scored. Yandle drove in a pair of runs in the win.

Blake had one of her best starts in a Golden Eagle uniform, giving up just one earned run on two hits, while striking out four hitters in 5.1 innings of work.

Game Two
In game two, the Golden Eagles would strike first in the top of the first inning, as Hannah Trzinski (Fr., P/1B, Stevens Point, Wis.) would drive in Yandle with a sacrifice fly.

Yandle would score again in the third inning on a Sydney McMurdie (Fr., P/UT, Twin Falls, Idaho) fielder's choice.

The Arrows would knot the game up in the bottom of the third and would strike for three more runs in the fourth, taking a 5-2 lead.

The Golden Eagles would answer with a run in the top of the sixth, as Yandle would single in a run, scoring Bryanna Decker (Fr., C/OF, Roseville, Calif.), but Doering would get thrown out at home, keeping the game at a two run game.

In the top of the seventh, the Golden Eagles would get a base runner, but that would be all, as the Arrows of Ursuline would slam the door and sweep the day, 5-3.

Yandle had two more hits on the afternoon, giving her seven hits in just four games in Florida. Irelyn Spencer (R-So., IF, Rapid City, S.D.) went 2-4 in the game. The Golden Eagles had eight hits as a team.

The Golden Eagles used three pitchers in the game in Evie Stuck (Sr., P/OF, Papillion, Neb.), Kailee Pollard (Sr., P, Marshalltown, Iowa) and Charlotte Dombrowski (Jr., P/OF, Valparaiso, Ind.).

What's Next
