Blaine, Minn. - The Golden Eagle Hockey Team will draw a matchup with the St. Thomas Tommies yet again this season, and this time it is for third place at the WCCHA Tournament. The Tommies and Golden Eagles are used to each other at this point, seeing as this will be their sixth game against each other since the beginning of last season. The biggest goal differential in the last five games between these two teams was two.

For the Golden Eagles, this is a huge matchup because of the Central Regional Rankings. They entered the weekend in 10th in the region, which is not an uncomfortable spot to be in, but a win over St. Thomas would be a great boost for their ranking. Not only that, but it would also snap a four game skid against the Tommies dating back to November 11th, 2023.

The Golden Eagle Player to Watch for today's game is Alexander Bailey (R-Jr., D, Crosby, N.D.) who goes into the game with seven goals and 32 assists in 26 games. Bailey, who is in his first year in the maroon and gold, is the Golden Eagles highest scoring defenseman and has been extremely important to the success of the team. His 39 points rank fourth amongst the Golden Eagles, and he is one of the bigger hitters on the team on top of that. His physical play, along with his ability to create plays in the offensive end, will be key factors to a Golden Eagle victory over the Tommies.

The Golden Eagles and Tommies did just play against each other last weekend, so they are extremely familiar with the way they play. While that series did not go the way the Golden Eagles would have hoped, a win today would certainly help ease the pain of that sweep. A win today would have the Golden Eagles finishing in the top three at the WCCHA Tournament for a third straight year.

The Golden Eagles are ready for an early puck drop, with the time set for 10:30 a.m. at the National Sports Center Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.
