Vadnais Heights, Minn. - The Golden Eagles and Tommies were set for their final meeting of the regular season, with the Golden Eagles looking to rebound following last night's painful loss. In net for the Golden Eagles was Tyler Swanson (Fr., G, Moorhead, Minn.) who entered the game with a 3-0-0 record, along with a 0.75 goals against average and a .938 save percentage. For the Tommies, it was Axel Rosenlund, who had played against the Golden Eagles in the Conference Championship last season, he entered with a 4-3-0 record, a 2.86 goals against average, and a .916 save percentage.

The first period was scoreless, but that was due to the goaltending. Swanson and Rosenlund both stood tall and kept the score even for more than just the first period. After a high-scoring battle last night, this game was decided by the two goaltenders and the defensemen in front of them.

It took 29 minutes and 40 seconds of game time before either team broke the ice, and it was the Golden Eagles who had yet another lead in this series. Logan Syrup (Sr., F, Park River, N.D.) netted his third goal of the weekend, giving the Golden Eagles a major boost. He was assisted by Jackson Fuller (Sr., F, Bloomington, Minn.) and Mitchell Coleman (Sr., F, Hatton, N.D.) to give the Golden Eagles the 1-0 lead. That lead only lasted about five and a half minutes before Griffin Lennes evened the game up at one a piece. The two teams would head to intermission at 1-1.

The third period started off on the wrong foot for the Golden Eagles, as Drew Fisher put the Tommies ahead with a goal just one minute into the third period. The Golden Eagles would not re-find their footing, and with just 12 minutes left in the game, Morgan Spetz put the game out of reach. The Golden Eagles fell to the Tommies 3-1 in their final game before the WCCHA Tournament.

The Golden Eagles will head to Blaine, Minn. for the WCCHA Tournament, with their first game set for Friday, February 7th. The time and opponent for the Golden Eagles is TBD, and will officially be announced tomorrow, February 2nd.
