Dalston Kelly (Jr., F, Minto, N.D.) had the lone assist on the goal, his seventh assist of the season, two more than his previous career high of five in each of his first two seasons. Swanson and Christian were the stars through the opening 20.
The middle frame was controlled by the Golden Eagles, building up a lead that they would not give back. Jackson Dodds (5th, F, Watford City, N.D.) scored eight and a half minutes into the second, his brother, Fox Dodds (5th, F, Watford City, N.D.) and Alexander Bailey (5th, D, Crosby, N.D.) had the assists. Four minutes later, Mason Romfo (So., F, Langdon, N.D.) scored his 13th goal of the season, Anthony Foster had the only assist. Just three minutes later, Foster was on the board yet again with his second goal of the game and third point. Kadin Edwards (Fr., F, Crookston, Minn.) had the assist. The Golden Eagles went into the third period with a commanding 4-1 lead.
Just like in last night's game, the Johnnies put some pressure on the Golden Eagles early on. This time, it was just two minutes into the period before Carter Hermanson brought the game within two goals. That, however, was the closest that the Johnnies would get. With just over five minutes to play, Anthony Foster fired home his third goal of the game for his second career hat trick and his team leading 14th goal of the season. Four minutes after that, Mason Romfo scored his second of the game, tying Anthony Foster's goal total of 14, Ben Hines (Jr., F, Detroit Lakes, Minn.) had the assist. Hines now has 15 points in his last 11 games. The Golden Eagles held that 6-2 lead for the rest of the game, and came away with the win. Tyler Swanson ended the game with 26 saves on 28 shots against.
The Golden Eagles will head to winter break with a 14-2-0 record, amidst an eight game win streak. They will now have over a month off, with their next game scheduled for January 10th as they host the University of Jamestown, who will be 14-2-2 when they come to town.
