Crookston, Minn. - Golden Eagle hockey is back for their final home game of 2025, as they look for a series sweep against Dakota College at Bottineau. In net for the Golden Eagles was Adam Goody (Jr., G, Airdrie, Alberta) entering the day with a 5-1-0 record, a 3.33 goals against average and a .894 save percentage. For the Lumberjacks, they would turn to Josh Mack with a 1-4-0 record, an 8.60 goals against average and a .830 save percentage. The Golden Eagles used an early onslaught of goals to boost them to their 12 win of the season with a final score of 6-2.
The first period was nothing short of dominant from the Golden Eagles, with Logan Syrup (5th, F, Park River, N.D.) knocking home a loose puck after a scramble that had Kadin Edwards (Fr., F, Crookston, Minn.) and Dalston Kelly (Jr., F, Minto, N.D.) providing the assists. Three and a half minutes later, Braden Van de Kraats (So., F, Medicine Hat, Alberta) fired home a shot off of a pass from Syrup, Anthony Foster (Jr., F, Warroad, Minn.) picked up the secondary assist. Another three and a half minutes went by and Mason Romfo (So., F, Langdon, N.D.) snuck a shot past Mack, and the Golden Eagles had a 3-0 lead, his goal was assisted by Tyler Lorenz (So., D, Shakopee, Minn.) and Dylan Neubauer (5th, D, Grand Forks, N.D.) and the Golden Eagles chased Mack from the net. 22 seconds after that, the Golden Eagles got a shot past Lockhart when Jackson Dodds (5th, F, Watford City, N.D.) got a perfect cross crease pass from Fox Dodds (5th, F, Watford City, N.D.) and it was Ben Hines (Jr., F, Detroit Lakes, Minn.) that kicked the play off to extend his point streak to nine.
It was a much tighter second period, with each team coming away with a goal. Less than three minutes into the period, and fresh out of the penalty box Christian Crutcher got a breakaway and ripped a shot past the glove side of Goody. Two and a half minutes later, Mason Romfo stole the puck off of the stick of a Lumberjacks defenseman and slid the puck to Anthony Foster who took advantage of the wide open net to regain the four goal lead. To this point, Adam Goody had 14 saves on 15 shots against, while Carson Lockhart made 22 saves on 21 shots against, bringing his total to 33 saves on 35 shots faced.
The third period was very similar to the second, with just one goal per team. It was a game where both teams got under each other's skin, with the Golden Eagles having nine penalties while the Lumberjacks had eight. Seven minutes into the third period, Gage Fox brought the Lumberjacks within three, but that did not last long. Just like the Lumberjacks goal in the second period, the Golden Eagles answered back two and a half minutes later when Jackson Dodds fired a backhander top shelf to make it a 6-2 game, Brody Nordmark (Fr., D, Souris, N.D.) and Fox Dodds had the assists. The Golden Eagles outshot the Lumberjacks 69-24.
The Golden Eagles have just two games left before they head to winter break, and it will be next weekend as they head to Collegeville, Minnesota to take on Saint John's University. Friday will be a 7:30 p.m. puck drop, and Saturday will be at 12:30 p.m.
