St. Joseph, Mo. – Minnesota Crookston men's golf has won back-to-back tournaments. After a solid day yesterday, Minnesota Crookston had to hold off Central Missouri, who shot just one stroke over on the day and finished one stroke behind the Golden Eagles in second. The Golden Eagles won the tournament out of 10 teams.
Rockhurst, Harding and Missouri Western rounded out the top five.
Gannon Walsh (Sr., Belgrade, Minn.) finished in a tie for third after shooting 143 through the two rounds. CJ Phillips of Central Missouri won the tournament after shooting up the leaderboard with an astounding 64 on the day.
The Golden Eagles were in third place heading into the final three holes but were able to finish strong and win the tournament.
Walsh was spectacular on the day, finishing with five birdies on the day.
Marc Bofarull Balleste (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) moved up ten spots after shooting one over on the day and six over for the tournament, after finishing with two birdies.
Andrew Wilhelm (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) and
Connor Czirjak (Jr., Calgary, Alberta) each finished in a tie for 17
th.
As a team, the maroon and gold finished with 14 birdies on the day.
The Golden Eagles now have three straight top-five finishes and four straight finishes inside the top-10.
Minnesota Crookston men's golf closes out their outstanding fall season at the University of Sioux Falls Invitational, next Monday and Tuesday.
