St. Joseph, Mo. – Minnesota Crookston men's golf currently sits in first place out of 10 teams at the Missouri Western State Holiday Inn Express Invitational in St. Joseph, Mo.
The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes, with two rounds today, but mother nature decided the tournament will be two rounds and 36 holes.
The Golden Eagles lead the tournament by one stroke over Northeastern State (Okla.) and have a seven stroke cushion on Missouri Western, the host school.
Minnesota Crookston has two golfers in the top five.
Gannon Walsh (Sr., Belgrade, Minn.) sits even par on the day and in second place, two strokes behind Ian Wilcoxen of Northeastern State.
Connor Czirjak (Jr., Calgary, Alberta) is in a tie for fourth after carding a 73 on the day.
Holdyn Evjen (So., Hermantown, Minn.) was as high as fourth during the first round and finished the day in a tie for 11
th.
Andrew Wilhelm (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) and
Marc Bofarull Balleste (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) sit in a tie for 17
th and 21
st, respectively.
Minnesota Crookston shot 293 as a team on the day.
The Golden Eagles will look to hold on to their slim lead tomorrow morning, as they close out the Invitational.
