Larchwood, Iowa – Coming off back-to-back tournament wins, Minnesota Crookston men's golf was looking to finish the fall season strong at the USF Invitational. The strong finish was exactly what the Golden Eagles got, as they finished in second place out of 13 NSIC teams to close out the 2025 fall season.
Winona State won the tournament after shooting seven over through two rounds and edging the Golden Eagles. Minnesota Crookston finished three strokes ahead of Augustana and five strokes ahead of Sioux Falls.
The Golden Eagles moved up one spot in a tough weather day.
It was a much-needed good finish for the Golden Eagles, who beat a ton of NSIC qualifiers in their region, including Augustana, Sioux Falls, Concordia-St. Paul and Bemidji State.
Andrew Wilhelm (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) led the way through the tournament for the Golden Eagles, finishing in eighth place with a pair of birdies and carding a 78.
Marc Bofarull Balleste (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) carded 77 on the day, leading the Golden Eagles and finishing in a tie for 21
st, alongside
Connor Czirjak (Jr., Calgary, Alberta) and Jack Justesen (So., Hawley, Minn.), who also finished in a tie for 21
st.
Gannon Walsh (Sr., Belgrade, Minn.) finished in a tie for 16
th.
Carson Shultis (Sr., Fargo, N.D.) was playing as an individual but carded a 75 on the day to move up 22 spots and finish in 12th place with the help of four birdies on the first nine on the day.
The Golden Eagles in the lineup carded seven birdies on the day.
Minnesota Crookston finished the year with four straight finishes inside the top five.
The historic fall for the Golden Eagles is over, and they now await to see where they sit in the regional rankings, which will come out shortly.
