Sartell, Minn. - Golden Eagles Tennis is back to start the year, and are doing so with an 0-1 start after losing to St. Cloud State. This matchup came down to the wire, with the Huskies taking it 4-3.
In doubles, Daniela de Lucas Rivera (So., Madrid, Spain) and Asli Oktay (Fr., Istanbul, Turkey) fell 6-4, Kavya Singh (Jr., Agra, India) and Nadia Cases Mundet (So., Barcelona, Spain) dominated their match 6-0, and Blaike Zander (Sr., Bismarck, N.D.) and Abril Manas Hernandez (Fr., Barcelona, Spain) lost 6-3.
In singles, the Golden Eagles earned their win. de Lucas Rivera won her sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-3, Oktay fell 7-6 and 6-4, Cases Mundet won 7-6 and 6-4, Zander won 6-2 and 6-4, Singh lost 7-6 and 6-3 and Manas Hernandez played her match tight, with the first two sets going to tiebreakers with each player winning one 6-4, but Manas Hernandez fell in the final set by a score of 6-2.
The Golden Eagles are back next Friday, February 7th, at 4 p.m. as they prepare to take on Bemidji State in Bemidji, Minn.
