Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles have added nine new members to the hockey team this summer. Six forwards, two defensemen, and one goalie will be joining the team when they hit the ice this fall.
The first forward is Ben Hines (So., F, Detroit Lakes, Minn.) who was a member of a familiar opponent in the Jamestown Jimmies prior to transferring to the University of Minnesota Crookston. Hines had seven goals and 12 points in 27 games for the Jimmies, in the Regional Tournament he scored two goals in two games. Ben Hines will wear number 29, last worn by Jared Aamold in 2021-2022.
Rudy Moser (Fr., F, Langdon, N.D.) will be joining the team after spending last season with the Langdon Blades of the NDAHA, he was named to the Second Team Junior Gold All-State Team. Rudy Moser will wear number 2, last worn by Parker Sunderland in 2023.
Mason Romfo (Fr., F, Langdon, N.D.) will also be coming over from the Langdon Blades after being named to the First Team Junior Gold All-State Team. Mason Romfo will wear number 15, which has not been worn by a member of the Golden Eagles in the ACHA era.
Jackson Dodds (Sr., F, Watford City, N.D.) will be joining the Golden Eagles coming from Williston State College. Dodds played in 20 games for the Tetons last season, scoring 11 goals and 12 assists. His brother, Fox Dodds (Sr., F, Watford City, N.D.), is entering his second season with the Golden Eagles. Jackson Dodds will wear number 9, last worn by Jake Huska in 2023-2024.
Aiden Morelli (Jr., F, Minot, N.D.) comes to the Golden Eagles from Dakota College-Bottineau, who the Golden Eagles played four times last year. Morelli had a breakout season in 2023-24, scoring 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points in 33 games. Aiden Morelli will wear number 27, which has not been worn by a member of the Golden Eagles in the ACHA era.
The Golden Eagles will also be adding Connor O'Donoghue (So., F, Champlin, Minn.) who was a student with the University of Minnesota Crookston last year. O'Donoghue has not played since the 2020-2021 season, when he played 19 games with Champlin Park High. Connor O'Donoghue will wear number 18, last worn by Dalston Kelly in 2023-2024.
Alexander Bailey (R-Jr., D, Crosby, N.D.) is one of the new defensemen coming over, as he was with Williston State College last season. Bailey led the Tetons in assists and points last year, scoring six goals and 22 assists for 28 points in 19 games. Alexander Bailey will wear number 22, last worn by Nathan Ayotte in 2023-2024.
Tyler Lorenz (Fr., D, Shakopee, Minn.) is another defenseman being added to the program. Lorenz played for Junior Gold B Red in 2023-2024 for Shakopee. Tyler Lorenz will wear number 25, last worn by Sam Baxter in 2023-2024.
Our newest netminder joining the Golden Eagles is Tyler Swanson (Fr., G, Fargo, N.D.) who played for the Wisconsin Lumberjacks of the SIJHL two seasons ago. He had a 3-8-1 record, with a 5.47 goals against average and a .872 save percentage. He did not play last season. Tyler Swanson will wear number 35, last worn by Jared Aamold in 2023-2024.
The Golden Eagles will return to action October 11th at 7 P.M. when they faceoff with the Jamestown Jimmies to open the season. The two teams have played each other 12 times since the Golden Eagles hockey program returned in 2020, with the Golden Eagles leading 7-5.
