Minnesota Crookston Baseball Opens NSIC Tournament Wednesday

CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball tournament is set for their sixth NSIC Tournament appearance in 10 seasons, as they open up the 2024 NSIC Tournament in Bismarck and Mandan, N.D., Wednesday, May 8.

The Golden Eagles will be the No. 3 seed in the NSIC Tournament. They open the tournament Wednesday at 6 p.m., at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark in Bismarck, N.D. The winner of Wednesday's game will advance in the winner's bracket to play the winner of (2) Minnesota State University and (7) University of Mary Thursday, May 9 at 3:30 p.m., at Veterans Memorial Ballpark at BNC Field in Mandan, N.D. The loser of Wednesday's game will move to the consolation bracket and play the loser of the Minnesota State/UMary tilt Thursday, May 9 at 12 p.m., at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark.

Minnesota Crookston has posted a 5-12 mark at the NSIC Tournament in their history. They are 5-4 in their last two appearances. They made it to the consolation semifinals in 2023 before falling to Augustana University. In 2021, Minnesota Crookston made it to the consolation finals before being defeated by Augustana. The Golden Eagles have never played Southwest Minnesota State in an NSIC Tournament game. They went 2-1 in the regular-season series against the Mustangs, and are 5-1 in their last six games with Southwest Minnesota State.

The Golden Eagles are 0-3 against Minnesota State in the NSIC Tournament, and they have not played UMary in the conference tournament in their last six appearances. Against the other teams in the NSIC Tournament, Minnesota Crookston is 1-0 against Wayne State College, 0-2 against Augustana University, and 1-2 versus St. Cloud State University. They have not played Concordia University-St. Paul in the NSIC Tournament in their last six appearances.

The 2024 NSIC Tournament will be the second back-to-back appearance the Golden Eagles have made in their history. They made back-to-back appearances in 2016 and 2017.
