2025 (Sophomore): Benning was a part of the team's starting rotation as a sophomore...He started all 13 games appeared in as a sophomore...Benning was 3-4, with a 6.59 ERA in 56 innings...He struck out 42, and walked 26...Benning allowed no earned runs in five innings versus Rockhurst...He gave up just two runs in six innings versus Concordia-St. Paul...He tossed five shutout innings versus Southwest Minnesota State. 

2024 (Freshman): Benning made a major impact as a true freshman for the Golden Eagles...He served as both a weekend starter and weekday starter...Benning went 4-1, with a 5.37 ERA in 52 innings...He made 11 starts, and two appearances out of the bullpen...Benning struck out 34, and walked 26...He pitched a scoreless six innings March 23 against Concordia-St. Paul...Benning allowed one run over six innings against Bemidji State April 17...He went six innings, allowing just one run versus Northern State May 4. 

Prior to UMN Crookston: Benning competed in the Prairie Conference with Browerville High School...Benning is an outfielder/pitcher who is a two-time All-Conference and All-Region performer.
 
Personal: Nathan is the son of Penny and Dan Benning and plans to major in Natural Resources Law Enforcement at Minnesota Crookston...His dad played football at Hamline University...Benning was honored with the 2021-22 All-Academic Award.
