Minnesota Crookston Set for Final Home Weekend Against Minnesota Duluth

CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team is set for a trio of games against the University of Minnesota Duluth. The Golden Eagles play the Bulldogs Saturday, April 27 at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 28 at 12 p.m. 

Sunday will be Senior Day for the Golden Eagles. They will honor 11 seniors: Teddy Giefer, Caden Headlee, Jake Hjelle, Jake Osowski, Nick Thompson, Blake Gulden, Tad Scherbenske, Christian Norby, Mitch Goodwin, Ben Goelz, and Brody Sorenson

The Golden Eagles come into the weekend with a 26-14 (20-10 NSIC) mark. Minnesota Crookston is currently in fourth place in the NSIC standings. They are a half-game behind St. Cloud State University in third, and a game in front of Wayne State College. The Golden Eagles have posted a 20-6 mark in the last 26 games. Minnesota Duluth is 16-25 (12-20 NSIC) entering Saturday. They are still in contention for a tournament spot, as they are just two games from eighth place. The top eight teams go to the NSIC Tournament. The Golden Eagles are 3-3 in their last six games with the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs have been a strong offensive team this season, batting .302, with 282 runs scored, 65 doubles, seven triples, 56 home runs, and 238 RBIs. Their stats are very comparable to the Golden Eagles this season. Gabe Richardson is batting .361, with 22 runs scored, 10 doubles, four home runs, and 29 RBIs.
