Litchfield Park, Ariz. – Minnesota Crookston women's golf opened up their spring season in the sunshine of Arizona at the SMSU Challenge, hosted by Southwest Minnesota State.
 
After shooting a 340 in round one at the challenge, the Golden Eagles shot a 366 this afternoon to finish with a 706, placing 11
th.
 
Anaka Lysne (So., Wahpeton, N.D.) finished in a tie for 19
th and was in the top ten after Thursday's round, shooting a 75. 
Ainsley McLain (Fr., Grafton, N.D.) and 
Clara Hanson (Jr., Grand Forks, N.D.) placed in a tie for 58
th and 60
th, respectively.
 
As a team, Minnesota Crookston finished with 56 pars in the tournament and had six birdies over the two rounds, as well.
 
Lysne and Hanson each had two birdies through the 36 holes, while McLain and 
Libby Dulmage (Fr., Leeds, N.D.) each added a birdie.
 
Minnesota State won the SMSU Challenge with a 619. Colorado Mesa finished in second, shooting 620 as a team.
 
Anna Cihak of Minnesota State and Cassidy Phelan of Colorado Mesa finished in a tie for first place.
 
What's Next
The Golden Eagles will stay in the gorgeous weather of Arizona and compete at the SMSU Classic on March 11-12, at the same course, Wigwam Blue Course.
